In realizing our vision of becoming one of the top notch universities in Southeast Asia, the university will hold an INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE FOR GLOBALIZATION AND SUSTAINABILITY on August 14-16, 2012 at Sarabia Manor Hotel. The units that will spearhead this activity are Center for Research and Innovations in Science and Mathematics Education (CRISMEd), College of Education (COE) and the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE). The National Organization of Science Teachers and Educators (NOSTE), a WVSU-based national organization will help the organizers with the following cooperating agencies: Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation (GK), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), AtKisson Group of Companies, University of Georgia (USA), University of Guam and SEAMEO-RECSAM based in Penang, Malaysia.
The conference objectives are to 1) disseminate, share, and discuss research findings that address the challenges of globalization and sustainability and 2) strengthen partnerships among researchers for sustained sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices.
It will have the following conference strands:
- Nature – Environment, Land Use Patterns, Pollution, Ecosystems, Natural Resources Use and Management, Climate Change, and others.
- Economy – Wages and Benefits, Fiscal Budgets, Consumption Patterns (energy, raw materials, water), Employment Patterns, Cost of Living and Poverty Alleviation, and others.
- Well-being –Quality of Life (work/life balance), Education and Training, Spiritual Fulfillment, Physical and Mental Health, Sense of Personal Security, and others.
- Society – Governance, Public Services, Social Services (health care, child care), Ethnic and Gender Diversity, Cultural Diversity (identity and preservation), Corporate Social Responsibility, and others.
